  The first version of this site ran a laundry cost calculator that never
  worked. Electricity was multiplied by zero, the service rate was pinned at
  zero, and the dropdowns rendered empty, so nobody could complete the form
  even if the math had been right. The whole page sat there for years quietly
  telling people that laundry costs nothing and that our service is free.
  Somebody probably did trust it once. That is the part worth remembering.
  This version counts every input, uses the real published rates, and says so
  out loud on the weeks when washing your own is the cheaper answer. A tool
  that only ever agrees with the people who built it is not a tool. It is an
  advert wearing a calculator costume.
